Mr. and Mrs. Roger Miller have sold the assets of Winmill Publishing Company, Inc., Brattleboro, Vermont, to New England Newspapers, Inc., a subsidiary of MediaNews Group of Denver, Colorado. Winmill Publishing Company, Inc. is the publisher of a group of free weekly newspapers and a commercial printing operation. John Peterson of the Peterson Group, Guilford, Connecticut advised the Millers, and John T. Cribb, Bolitho-Cribb & Associates, represented MediaNews Group in the transaction.
Included in the sale are the Brattleboro Town Crier, the Bellows Falls Town Crier, the Greenfield Town Crier, the Athol/Orange Town Crier, the Auto Finder, and several additional niche publications. Total circulation for the Town Crier publications is 61,000 weekly.
The sale included a commercial web printing operation with a 12-unit Goss Community Press. The building housing the company has been retained by the Millers with a lease arrangement for the new owners. The Miller’s son, Scott, will continue with the company in a management position.
